Our unbiased review of the Top 4 Best Rechargeable Batteries
Here at BestRechargeableBatteries.org, we pride ourselves on our rechargeable battery knowledge and reviews and always try to conduct fair experiments in our quest to find the best rechargeable batteries in the world. Below is our list of the best rechargeable batteries, in reverse order of course (in true 1980s TV style).
You may be thinking that a list of the “Top 4” is a little odd and wondering why we didn’t present the top 5 or top 10 or even just the number 1 winner. The reason for this is that we have discovered that there are really only 4 brands of rechargeable battery that are the market leaders and really stand out from the crowd.
To be perfectly honest the following 4 brands of rechargeable battery do not have must between them as they are all excellent contenders for the crown of best rechargeable battery.
It was suggested that we didn’t rank the following 4 types of battery but instead just presented the list to the world however everyone likes to get a definitive answer even if our reasons for ranking one type of battery over another were rather petty in some cases. That said, feel free to buy any of these batteries as we are sure you will be happy with any choice you make. Without further ado here is our list of the best rechargeable batteries that we believe exist and are on the market today:
4) Uniross Hybrio
At number 4 is the “Hybrio “, manufactured by the battery giant Uniross and available worldwide. They come pre-charged and Uniross claim that they will retain their charge for over a year. These are an excellent battery and the only reason they came in at position 4 is due to Uniross’ claim that they can bee recharged 500 times.
A lot of other companies claim their NiMh batteries have a life of over 1000 charges but often die well before they reach that number. Let’s hope that it isn’t the honesty of Uniross that has placed their Hybrios in last position.

3) Rayovac Hybrid
Rayovac have been manufacturing excellent quality rechargeable batteries for many years now even though they are not super well-known internationally. Their latest offering of the Hybrid is a fantastic battery that is quick to charge and holds its charge very well indeed.
Rayovac claim that the Hybrid was designed for use in high drain devices such as digital cameras and radio controlled toys. An alternative to the Hybrid is the Rayovac I-C3 rechargeable battery. The I-C3 (often referred to as simply the Rayovac IC3) has the same characteristics as the Hybrid but with the added benefit that it can be fully recharged in just 15 minutes.
Although the I-C3 is slightly more expensive than the Hybrid, this additional cost may be justified if you need your batteries recharged quickly.

2) E8GE 1000
Despite having the number 1000 in the name of their product, E8GE (pronounced Edge) reliably inform us that the capacity of these batteries is actually 2200mah rather than 1000mah as one might expect at first glance.
Again the E8GE 1000 is a pre-charged battery with the ability to hold 75% of its charge for many months. It can be recharged 1000 times (perhaps this is the source of its name) and is suitable for all devices. This is an excellent all-round rechargeable battery.
1) Sanyo Eneloop
And so this brings us to our overall winner. To people that know about rechargeable batteries, it will probably come as no shock that we too have chosen the Eneloop from Japanese giant Sanyo as the king of rechargeable battery land.
The Eneloop has a good pedigree having had millions spent on its research and development. The Sanyo Eneloop battery comes fully charged up upon purchase and even after hundreds of charge-discharge cycles; it will retain 85% charged up capacity after 12 months.
This means that you can charge up these batteries, put them away in your drawer or cupboard and in a year’s time when you need to use your camera or radio controlled toy you can whip them out and they will still be charged up to a staggering 85% capacity.
As well as this, Sanyo claim 1000 recharges are possible before deterioration and the Eneloop is renowned for its long life even when consistently used in high drain devices such as digital cameras and transmitters. Well done Sanyo, your Eneloop has done it again!
